I'd like to start by saying that looking on the front cover of the game, the graphics don't look all that fantastic. In the game, they're ten times better. Now that that's over with, let's get to the review.
Graphics: 9.5
This was a really good experience. Compared to the graphics coming out today, it's doesn't compare as a 10, and the only thing that took off a point was that people's heads and limbs stil lgo through walls. On the other hand, this put on the .5, if Master Chief falls dead on a ledge, whatever part of his body over the edge will actually lean down, with an arm or leg dangling.
Sounds: 9
You hear everything in this game. If a Grunt is scared crapless, you hear it screaming. Elites grunt at you. Jackals also scream. Marines talk to you. Master Chief's voice fits his personality and status. The gunfire sounds real. And, Plasma Weapons actually sound like Plasma Weapons. Only thing that took off the point was that sometimes you hear Grunts scream "We're all gonna die!" in English, and they're aliens. Admittedly, the war's been going for 25 years, but Grunts shouldn't be able to say that, especially 'gonna'.
Enemies: 10
Whoa. Of course, you have the alien Covenant who are bent on wiping out the human race who are very scary with advanced weapons and armour. Grunts even have methan tanks they carry around so they can breathe - very realistic, unlike the others who have a generated atmosphere created by their armour. Hunters, which are the nastiest of the Covenant in this game, are incredibly hard to kill because of their massive pieces of armour, and they also have hand-held shields that can deflect bullets and plasma fire. Realistic, as they are the things that can really cause casualties. If you had a super-species, you'd protect them, right?
Most people think these aliens are the only enemy - but they're wrong. There's two more enemies, the Flood and the Sentinels. The Flood come in three species: Infection Forms, which are small balloon-like things that inject a spike into your spine and can take control of you. Combat Forms, which are Elites and Humans overtaken by the Infection Forms, which are the main means of attack. Combat Forms usually have weapons stolen from their prey - plasma weapons, assault rifles, even grenades. Some have rocket launchers, too. Carrier Forms are Grunts and Jackals, overtaken by the Flood of course, that hold Infection Forms inside wriggling sacks around their heads. If you shoot them, they'll drop to the floor and explode, leaving Infection Forms everywhere. If you don't shoot, they'll throw themselves at you, then explode with Infection Forms going everywhere.
Multiplayer: 9
You really have to experience this for yourself... but online, things are very different. Everyone is a Spartan, therefore difficult to kill, and everyone is good at aiming and tactics. If you find a really good team, they'll ambush your Warthog with rocket launchers fom behind a rock or hill. The one thing that takes off points is the mods - they can get really annoying. For instance, there's one map mod on Blood Gulch that can get you up onto the cliffs, a good snipering position and hard to die on. This is incredibly annoying.
Overrall: 9.8
Definitely buy this game. Here are some screenshots as well, but they aren't mine, I found them off a foreign site. Note: Not a good idea to wait for these on a low internet connection speed.
